QUESTIONS & ANSWERS - DR. FRED GROVER

How does a visit with you differ from other primary care physicians?
I spend more time with patients, which gives me an opportunity to listen and assess individuals more comprehensively for underlying illness, rather than the simply treating a symptom. My shortest visit is 30 min, and I limit myself to 12 patients a day.

How does  your practice differ from the traditional family practice?
My practice is small and simple, compared to the larger, often chaotic setting of traditional practices.  It’s more efficient, wellness oriented, and patient focused.  An electronic medical record, and advanced technology enhance the monitoring of your health.

What types of patients do you see? I see patients of all ages.  In a typical day I may see an infant for a well child check, perform a few adult wellness exams, remove a suspicious mole from a patient, perform a photofacial, treat a case of sinusitis, and counsel a patient on integrating acupuncture and modern medications for the treatment of a migraine. As a family doc my days are always diverse making my practice more interesting and challenging.

What unique services do you offer? I offer personalized wellness visits tailored to one’s risk factors. These go beyond the traditional physical and may include additional tests such as spirometry, expanded lab panels, and advanced imaging to further assess your health. Advanced Hormone testing via salivary testing and/or 24 hour urine tests can also be performed to tailor hormone replacement specifically to the individual. Bioidentical hormone replacement recommendations will be made for interested patients.

Are you an “anti-aging” doctor? Yes, I emphasize healthy lifestyles, exercise, diet, and nutraceutical supplementation to prevent disease, and safely maximize your health and longevity. I offer pharmaceutical grade supplements with high bioavailability in the office to slow the aging process. Hormone replacement may be recommended if deficiencys are noted in laboratory tests. Cosmetic dermatology services are offered to keep you looking younger, and feeling younger.

How do you help patients with weight loss? I start with a comprehensive diet, exercise and lifestyle history, and then accurately assess one’s overweight status using impedance body composition testing. Metabolic testing on-site is often recommended, which helps me precisely calculate a target daily calorie intake and exercise program. Each is tailored to an individual’s lifestyle and is not a generic plan. Natural weight loss supplementation may be recommended..

How and when do you integrate your western medical care with Traditional Chinese Medicine?
Western and Eastern medicine each have their strengths for certain medical conditions.  My training has helped me recognize the strengths of each, and has given me the insight to know when to recommend one over the other, or a blend of the two to maximize your wellness. Our unique setting provides a rare opportunity to truly blend the best of both worlds at one site!
