DR. FRED GROVER Jr. M.D. FAAFP
"True Wellness is a longer, brighter
future"
...................................................................................................
Dr.
Grover is a well recognized family physician who has been
practicing medicine in Denver since 1996. His passion and special
interests are wellness, disease prevention, integrative medicine and aesthetic dermatalogy.
He is an Assistant
Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at the University of
Colorado, and is affiliated with Rose Hospital. Dr. Grover is Board Certified both Family Medicine and Holistic Medicine, giving him a broad
appreciation and skills for integrating complementary
(alternative) therapies into patient care. He is also active in
cancer prevention research (NIH grant recipient) and volunteers on
the boards of the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative and
ACS Colorectal Cancer task force.
Born to a
father who is a famous heart-lung surgeon, he decided to take a
different road. "Growing up I heard story after story of
patients' undergoing surgery from disease often related to unhealthy lifestyles. I observed my
father doing open heart surgery ranging from bypass to more
impressive surgeries such as transplanting a set of new lungs and
a heart in a patient. These are incredible accomplishments, but I
decided that I should balance out surgical interventions with
disease prevention, and pursue primary care medicine. By helping
patients emphasize healthier lifestyles, and addressing risk
factors, I hope to keep them out of the operating room."
He favors
a more personalized approach to his patients, spending more time
with them, looking for ways to improve their health by diet,
exercise, and natural means, rather than quickly reaching for a
prescription pad. "Modern Medicine plays a major role in my
practice, but if there is a safe, non-prescription way to improve
a patient's health, I always offer that first. When possible, I
help patients reduce the number of prescription medicines,
diminishing potential side effects and drug interactions.
Additionally I look for adverse drug-herb interactions, such as
coumadin and gingko."
Dr. Grover
uses an electronic medical record to assist him in screening for
complex drug interactions, tracking cancer screening interval,
labs,, chronic disease monitoring, and for maintaining an accurate
record of your health. Dr. Grover is amongst the few
(approximately 30%) Colorado primary care physicians who harnesses
the cutting edge benefits of an electronic record to care for his
patients.
Dr Grover
has a wonderful family with 2 young children, and a wife who is a
neonatologist at The Children's Hospital and University Health
Science Center. For balance, he enjoys photography, scuba diving,
and many outdoor mountain sports.
